The Youth Ministry of Shadow Hills provides many opportunities for Las Vegas students. With our choices of Bible studies, fellowships and worship times, we provide many alternatives that will interest all youth.

“These are a shadow of things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” (Col 2:17 NIV)

Purpose Statement:

The Jr. High Ministry is seeking to learn about Jesus while sharing companionship and assisting others as we promote God’s love, which will magnify our Savior.

Weekly Schedule:

Saturday:
6:15 pm – Bible Study in Rec. Center

Sunday:
9:00 am – Bible Study in Rec. Center

10:30 am – Bible Study in Rec. Center

5:00 pm – Youth Choir in Rec. Center
A weekly ministry that encourages students to use their gifts for the glory of God. Special musical presentations prepared for specific time of the year, as well as a summer mission trip.

5:00 pm – Gathering Classes in Rec. Center

A weekly study offered for students that leads them through a particular passage of God’s word or a topic enabling them to grow in their walk with God.

Wednesday:
6:30 pm – REALITY Bible Study in Rec. Center

An active Bible Study just for Jr. High Students.  This Bible study is taught through high energy activities, video clips, and group activities.  An occasional “fun night” is thrown in to keep things shaken up.  Fun nights can include movie nights, game nights, or field trips.

Special Events:

Service Projects:  Throughout the year, the Jr. High students are given many opportunities to love God by

loving others.  We participate in Bible distributions, painting local churches, helping other

churches with their Vacation Bible School programs, and various other events.  Jesus

taught us that we are to serve others by His example when He walked on Earth.

Youth Camp:        A yearly event to get away and focus on God and our relationship with Him.  Also a great

time to build on friendships with your group and create new ones.

Spring Break:       Whether we do overnight trips to California or events in Vegas, we have great scheduled

activities.

8th Grade Day:      Every August we have a special day for our promoting 8th graders to say thank you for 3

great years and good luck in High School.  This event can consist of a day of tubing down

a river, a day at Magic Mountain, a day in California at the beach, or a day of checking out

events here, locally.

Shari has been involved in student ministry for fourteen years, serving twelve of those years on staff here at Shadow Hills.  Her husband, Gary, is retired from the Air Force, and continues to work with the government.  Their family consists of their son Jeremy and his wife, Nicole and their daughter Sonya and her husband, Boun.  She loves to go for walks, sit outside, and workout.  Shari’s biggest dream for the Jr. High is to see the students come face-to-face with the mighty God who created them to serve him with the spirit He deserves.

Andy has been working with Jr. High Students through various organizations for ten years.  He loves working with the youth, and sharing with them the everlasting love of Christ.  He is currently working toward a degree in counseling, and is very involved with his music.  He has been a member of Shadow Hills for three years.
